1EP 1Hime investigates attacks while confronting Kosuke and a vengeful Rin Azuma.
Oct 3, 2008Following a series of assaults by an escaped criminal, Hime Yarizakura and assistant Kyousuke Kishi investigate alongside Akina Hiizumi, Ao Nanami, and Kotoha Isone. The group prepares to welcome Rin Azuma, a jiangshi, as a new youkai resident in Sakurashin. Hime later confronts the suspect, Kosuke Yoshimura, who is holding Rin hostage, causing Kosuke to vanish. The next day, Kosuke takes nurse V Juri F hostage and summons Hime. With assistance from Ao, Kotoha, and Kyousuke, they defeat Kosuke. Rin then threatens Akina, revealing Kosuke promised her revenge against humans who abused her. Akina uses tuning to expel the youkai from Kosuke’s body. When Kosuke offers to take Rin to his office, she refuses, stating she hates all humans.
2EP 2Hime assigns Akina to care for Rin while youkai powers destabilize the city.
Oct 10, 2008Hime meets Yūhi Shinatsuhiko, a tochigami, to discuss Rin's status in the city, deciding she should attend school and work there. Hime assigns Akina as Rin's caretaker, but Akina quickly leaves. When Akina encounters Hime, she questions why Akina is allowed in the city, and Hime claims that Akina's tuning ability is necessary for the city's peace; however, Rin considers tuning murder. Elsewhere, Enjin Hiizumi, a wolf youkai, attacks one of the Seven Pillars, the spiritual sakura trees that protect the city. Throughout the city, youkai begin to lose control of their powers, and Hime confronts Akina, who is upset about Rin's belief that tuning is murder. Near Akina's office, Rin begins to lose control of her powers, and Akina uses tuning to expel the yōkai that was possessing her. The following day, a grateful Rin arrives at Akina's office to sell food.
3EP 3Hime balances mayoral duties while training and raising Silver, who is later possessed by a youkai.
Oct 17, 2008Hime trains with Kyousuke in her dojo, remembering her grandmother, the former mayor, who passed the title to her. At Akina’s office, Hime begins raising a dog named Silver, feeding it ramen to ensure its well-being. When Akina reports a citizen’s concern that Hime prioritizes Silver over her mayoral responsibilities, she insists she can manage both tasks without issue. Later, Silver bites Akina in his office. Enraged, Hime strikes the dog, causing it to leave sadly despite Ao’s protests. After attacking one of the Seven Pillars, Silver is encountered by Enjin, who implants a youkai into him. This forces Hime to engage in combat. Once the youkai takes control of Silver’s body, Akina must use tuning, a process that releases both the dog’s and the youkai’s souls.
4EP 4Akina confronts Enjin while discovering Gin's soul remains within his body.
Oct 23, 2008Akina and Hime discuss Enjin's possession of Gin Nanami with Yuuhi, who claims Gin's soul is likely destroyed. Enjin realizes he cannot use his full power because Gin's soul is still present in his body. Meanwhile, Ao and Touka Kishi prepare food for Hime on her business trip. Akina finds a monkey statue he won in a yakisoba-eating contest with Gin and Hime. That evening, Enjin attacks the barrier created by the Seven Pillars and passes through it. His associate, Eiji Shinozuka, is confronted by Kotoha, Ao, and Yuuhi, who realizes that Shinozuka is a hanyou like Kotoha. Akina confronts Enjin but is unwilling to use tuning on him after Enjin reveals that Gin's soul is still present in his body. Akina is saved by Yae Shinatsuhiko, Yūhi's sister, and Enjin retreats.
5EP 5Hime broadcasts a song while Akina conceals Enjin's presence and Ao faces guilt over Junta.
Oct 31, 2008Hime returns from a business trip and broadcasts an original song across the city. Akina meets the Senior Council, who instruct him to ignore that Enjin is in Gin's body, and subsequently asks Yae to keep this secret. Hime, Ao, Kotoha, Kyousuke, and Touka supervise a daycare center but struggle with the children until Ao uses her telepathy to engage them. When Ao reads Junta's mind, she inadvertently exposes a promise he made with his missing father, causing Junta to run away. Distressed by this, Ao stops using her powers. Akina and Hime locate Junta's father, leading to an apology from Ao. Finally, while relaxing on one of the Seven Pillars, Ao spots Enjin hovering in the sky.
6EP 6Kotoha confronts Hime over a pierced ticket while Shinozuka kidnaps her friends.
Nov 7, 2008Enjin vanishes, prompting Ao to inform Akina, who demands secrecy. Enjin suffers pain as Gin's body resists him, leading him to abandon Shinozuka. Kotoha plans a trip to Germany and a karaoke party with friends, asking Hime to be her training partner. During practice, Hime pierces Kotoha's airplane ticket with her spear. Enraged, Kotoha summons an 88 mm gun. Kyōsuke blocks the shot, and Kotoha apologizes to Hime. Later, Shinozuka kidnaps Kotoha's friends and lures her to the river. He dodges her attacks and tries to persuade her to join him, citing past abuse from humans for being a hanyō. Hime arrives, reminding Kotoha that she is human at heart, causing Shinozuka to retreat.
7EP 7Sakurashin Festival Preparations and the Kidnapping of Ao by Enjin
Nov 14, 2008Residents of Sakurashin prepare for the annual festival honoring the Seven Pillars, with Akina and Hime serving as representatives for the Hiizumi and Yarizakura families. During the ritual, Hime places the Dragon Spear in a shrine near one of the pillars to pray for the town's safety. Afterward, the group gathers at Akina's office, where they consume alcoholic youkai water and become intoxicated. The following morning, Enjin reveals he has kidnapped Ao. In response, Akina, Hime, Kotoha, and Kyōsuke travel to the shrine to confront him and resolve the situation.
8EP 8Enjin forces Akina to open the shrine entrance while Hime and Yae attempt to stop him.
Nov 21, 2008Enjin commands Akina to open the shrine entrance, prompting Hime to attack him. Kotoha and Ao engage Shinozuka, who successfully dodges Kotoha’s strikes. Enjin utilizes the telepathic abilities within Gin’s body to determine that Hime is reluctant to fight him seriously. Recognizing Hime’s inability to defeat Enjin, Yae prepares to intervene, but Mariabelle, Yuuhi’s assistant, states that Yuuhi has prohibited her interference. Enjin takes Hime hostage to compel Akina to open the entrance. Yae throws a sword into Enjin’s back but permits him to enter the shrine, where he begins forcing the tree to bloom. To halt this process, Hime employs the Dragon Spear to remove a portion of the tree.
9EP 9Hime consults the Senior Council while youkai powers spiral out of control.
Nov 28, 2008Hime meets the Senior Council, discovering severe injuries linked to the Seven Pillars. Meanwhile, youkai lose control of their abilities, leading to Touka accidentally using oni powers to destroy a car and requiring hospitalization. Kyousuke confronts Akina, criticizing his lack of resolve to use tuning on Enjin. Ao attempts to visit Hime but finds her training intensely. Enjin recalls a Hiizumi clan member using tuning on him after he advocated for Sakurashin as a youkai-only city. Ao urges Akina to use tuning on Enjin despite the risk to Gin's soul. The next day, Akina and Hime meet the Senior Council, who order them to cut down the Seven Pillars.
10EP 10Hime struggles with weakness as Seven Pillars grow and youkai attack the city
Dec 5, 2008The Senior Council explains that destroying the Seven Pillars forces residents to flee but prevents a portal to the youkai world. When townspeople question this, Hime fails to calm them. She discovers Akina advised hiding and accuses him of lacking resolve against Enjin. Two giant youkai attack, and Hime’s solo attempt ends in defeat. Akina, Kyōsuke, and Kotoha defeat the monsters, leaving Hime hospitalized. As the Seven Pillars begin to grow, Kyōsuke orders the evacuation of the area. In the hospital, Hime tearfully admits her weakness to Akina. Ao advises her to accept help from her friends, acknowledging she cannot save the town alone.
11EP 11Ao and Kotoha search for the youkai energy source while others battle invaders in town.
Dec 12, 2008Ao and Kotoha drive to locate the youkai energy causing the Seven Pillars to grow, while Akina and Kyousuke engage youkai in the city. Hime tries to leave the hospital to assist, but Juri denies her due to injuries. Later, Jinroku gives Hime the previous generation's Dragon Spear head. Outside, townspeople volunteer to fight the youkai. Ao and Kotoha are nearly overwhelmed by shadows until Yae rescues them. Akina and Kyousuke fight Shinozuka before being rescued by Ao and Kotoha, who identify the town center tower as the energy source. Kotoha uses a railroad gun to attack the tower. Meanwhile, Enjin visits one of the Seven Pillars and forces it to bloom.
12EP 12Hime battles Enjin with the Dragon Spear while allies defeat other threats
Dec 19, 2008Hime engages Enjin using the Dragon Spear, though Akina refuses to intervene with tuning. Enjin threatens the Senior Council, prompting Yae to arrive, but Yuuhi insists Hime fight alone. Meanwhile, Kotoha struggles against Shinozuka until Kyousuke traps him behind a car after Kotoha creates a distraction. Enjin cuts Hime’s scarf with his scythe, leading her to unleash the Dragon Spear’s full power to scatter sakura petals on the Seven Pillars. This attack knocks Enjin into Akina, who finally uses tuning on him. Freed, Gin thanks his allies before returning to the youkai world. The next day, Akina repairs and returns Hime’s scarf to her.
