After dismissing Mr. Shroud, Zane accepts an invitation from Chancellor Sheppard to meet at a mountain dojo. Sheppard, who once taught Zane to respect opponents and gifted him the Cyber End Dragon, challenges him to return to his old self. Zane defeats his former mentor by prioritizing victory over his prized monster. Following the match, Zane steals the dojo's secret Underworld deck. Before departing, Sheppard informs Zane about a tournament at Duel Academy, hoping that Zane's friends can help restore the person he used to be.
