Ep. 9: Yugiri defends Kiichi from Itou as the latter sacrifices himself for Kiichi's ideals in Saga.

Ex-samurai plan an attack on Nagasaki against Kiichi's wishes, prompting Itou to urge Yugiri and Kiichi to flee for safety. Yugiri contacts Meiji government allies for protection. Itou assassinates the insurrectionists, revealing his role as a government agent, and tries to silence Kiichi. Yugiri protects Kiichi, bolstering his resolve to save Saga, then duels Itou, who dies willingly out of respect for Kiichi's ideals. Yugiri is subsequently executed for this act. Kiichi travels to Nagasaki and successfully petitions for Saga's independence. In the present, the undead Yugiri visits the immortal bartender at Bar New Jofuku, reflecting on the new Saga Kiichi helped establish.
