Appare-Ranman!

In the 19th century, Appare Sorano, an unusual young mechanic, embarks on a journey with his assigned guardian, Kosame Isshiki, a samurai. During their travels, they end up stranded at sea and are eventually rescued by a steamship. Instead of returning them to Japan, the ship takes them to America, landing them in Los Angeles. With no clear path back home, they consider joining the inaugural trans-American automobile race. The race, however, is high-stakes and perilous, with large sums of money involved in its outcome, making success uncertain.
