Maria-sama ga Miteru

The story centers on the students of a Catholic all-girls school, emphasizing character interactions over a defined plot. A tradition called the sœur system pairs older students with younger ones, where the older student gives a rosary to the younger, committing to guide and care for them. A first-year student, Yumi, is approached by a second-year student, Sachiko, who fixes her uniform ribbon. Yumi recalls this moment throughout the day and shares it with friends. Later, a classmate shows Yumi a photo of the encounter, offering it in exchange for her allowing it to be displayed at the school festival and obtaining Sachiko's permission. This leads to Yumi becoming involved with the student council, the Yamayurikai. After accepting Sachiko's rosary, Yumi joins the group alongside two other students who are also petite sœurs. Through her involvement, Yumi grows closer to the other members and enjoys her time with them.
