At Lillian Girls’ Academy, a prestigious all-female Catholic institution, students are paired as soeurs—sisters—to provide mutual support throughout their education. Yumi Fukuzawa, a quiet and unassuming girl, never expected to be chosen by Sachiko Ogasawara, a popular and attractive classmate. Despite Yumi’s belief that she is too ordinary, Sachiko has expressed a desire to become her soeur. The reason for Sachiko’s interest remains unclear, as does the nature of their relationship and what the role of a soeur truly involves.
