The two fishermen are rescued from the giant sea serpents, which are nicknamed Manda by the media. Professor Li confirms Mei's suspicions involving the unusual properties of the archetypes, and informs her that she acquired the information from a man named Professor Ashihara. Meanwhile, a survey team led by Professor Li's colleague BB visits a cavern in India containing a "lake" of the strange red dust, but they are interrupted by the sudden emergence of another monster called Salunga and barely manage to escape before the cavern is sealed again. Yun, Haberu, and Kai cross paths with a pair of hunters just before they encounter the new creature, an armored monster called Anguirus: the hunters try to shoot it, but Anguirus somehow deflects their bullets and escapes. Michael Steven, another colleague of Professor Li, reveals that the archetypes are made from the red dust, which can only be mined in a few locations around the world. The appearing monsters continue to cause problems: flocks of Rodans are reported all around the world, while the emergences of Anguirus and the Mandas add to the panic. Yun deduces that Anguirus has the ability to foresee the short-term future by vibrating its spines to create an energy field. An operation is carried out to capture Anguirus, which has now grown larger. Gen, an old colleague of Gorou's, tries to kill the monster with a harpoon gun, but the attack fails.
