In 2026, a technology projects the internet onto the physical world, accessible through wearable devices like glasses and visors, creating an augmented reality. Yuuko Okonogi relocates to Daikoku, a city where this system, known as the Dennou, is rapidly expanding. Her grandmother operates an agency focused on locating children who have disappeared from the real world and entered the Dennou. A growing group of young hackers explores this digital space. Yuuko meets Isako, who possesses the ability to detect and eliminate harmful digital entities called "illegals," but her true intentions remain unclear.
