Sophocles decides that his Poni Island project will be to evolve his Charjabug, so Hapu tells him that the electrical energy around Vast Poni Canyon will allow him to do so. Ash, Kiawe and Sophocles head to the canyon where they find Horacio, their rival from the Charjabug Race, and his group, who are there to for the same reason.
