Hayato, Akita and Tsuranuki are helping with the maintenance of the Shinkalions. There, they meet Kintoki Odawara, a stubborn and sullen elderly mechanic. Kintoki, who is doing sober work to remanufacture scrapped Shinkalion parts, is able to see the team’s fighting styles just by looking at the damaged frame. Feeling like to drive his Shinkalion better, Hayato asks Kintoki for advice, and the latter offers a challenge, which is to polish the large amount of "garbage" parts he collected.
