Kaoru struggles with her feelings for Junichi and confronts a boy who mocked her letter to Keiko’s crush. Junichi intervenes and they discuss Keiko’s romance on the rooftop before their own relationship dynamics surface. Kaoru accidentally kisses Junichi, prompting him to seek playful revenge in the library. He abandons tickling to kiss her navel instead. While walking home and helping boys retrieve a stuck birdie, Junichi finds Kaoru adorable. Later, Kaoru sees her mother meeting an unknown man on her way to work.
