Masayoshi and Keiko arrange for Junichi and Kaoru to meet at the infirmary, hoping to encourage their mutual attraction. Junichi attempts to ask Kaoru out for Christmas Eve, only to discover she had already planned the date. She takes him to the top of the new Port Tower, overcoming his fear of heights to watch the snow. Kaoru confesses her desire for closeness, and Junichi reciprocates by admitting he wants to be with her forever, leading to a kiss. After Kaoru misses the last bus, Junichi invites her to stay at his home, where they sleep together in his bed. The next morning, the couple rides a bike to watch the sunrise while discussing their future.
