Sinbad fishes for Judel while the mermaid requests fruit, offering a basket of gems in return. Upon attempting to exchange the stones, Sinbad, Saleem, and Judel are arrested as thieves. The king sentences Sinbad to drowning after the mermaid fails to appear and verify the gift's origin. She rescues him, and he convinces her to reveal herself to the monarch. The king vows to shield the mermaids from human persecution. He accepts the jewels as a gift and appoints Judel and Saleem as ministers at his court.
