While traveling home, Sinbad meets a wealthy youth whose elderly mother wishes to taste pepper before passing away. Sinbad agrees to obtain the spice, but his vessel is destroyed by a storm. He and other survivors reach an island inhabited by a man-eating giant that kills several crew members. Sinbad devises a plan to cause the giant to fall, breaking open a locked door. He escapes with two companions on a raft, leading the giant to drown after stepping over a cliff edge. A passing ship rescues the group, enabling Sinbad to deliver the pepper to the old woman. This narrative adapts the third voyage from the Sinbad the Sailor legends.
