During spring celebrations in Baghdad, the sorcerer Balba presents a flying wooden horse to the king in exchange for Princess Sharam. Sinbad uses deception to acquire the horse, freeing the king from his promise. Balba subsequently kidnaps Sharam and escapes on the flying device. Sinbad pursues them on foot, tracking a group of raiders to an oasis where Sharam is held captive. The raiders steal Balba’s possessions, including the princess and the horse. Sinbad follows the thieves to their lair. With assistance from Shera, he convinces Sharam to pretend to be insane. Disguised as a physician, Sinbad successfully rescues Sharam and retrieves the flying horse. This narrative adapts the story known as The Ebony Horse.
