During a routine performance, a drunken patron yells fire, prompting Nadja to assign Rita to handle the emergency. Kennosuke observes Rita’s anxiety as she abandons the scene, taking Nadja’s brooch with her. Meanwhile, Granny Anna and George recall the circus troupe that dissolved following the death of Rita’s parents in a blaze. As Kennosuke rushes to assist her and Nadja along with Chocolat face imminent danger, Rita overcomes her trauma and regains the ability to speak.
