Yamada engages in a fierce rivalry with Kyouka Kanejō, who defeats her in a 50-meter freestyle race despite Yamada’s attempts to cheat. Yamada’s plan to recruit her sister Chika fails when the two girls become friends. As summer break approaches, Yamada and Kosuda seek a date but struggle with conflicting schedules. Yamada discovers Kosuda is on a family trip with Mayu Miyano’s family and assumes they are romantic. She joins an airsoft battle to catch up with him. Upon finally meeting Kosuda while stargazing, they clear up misunderstandings. Kosuda photographs Yamada with a digital camera for the first time, fulfilling their desire for a date under the stars.
