Ep. 5: Flashback reveals Kai and Shu's past, while present conflict erupts between them aboard the Granedger.

Ten years ago, Kai and Shu gained the Rekka emperor's respect by securing a Rakuho and defeating rebels. In the present, Kai confronts Shu aboard the Granedger with Edgar villagers. Shu refuses to return to Rekka, prompting Kai to attack, but Back intervenes, leading to a clash of their Briheights. Meanwhile, Shu orders Dr. Sola Athin to fire the Granedger's particle cannon at the capital. As explosions rock the city, Kai vows Shu is now an enemy and decides to return. Shu then reveals he remotely detonated explosives in the capital and urges them to head for the north wall before the deception is uncovered. In the capital, Ren Sin agrees to serve Kai Rhodan.
