Since 2021, humanity has battled the Gastrea Virus, which ravages the planet. Ten years later, Rentaro Satomi of the Tendo Civil Security Agency investigates an infection in the Tokyo Area. He encounters a mysterious masked man aiming to destroy the world. Enju Aihara faces a fleeing victim transforming into a giant Gastrea spider. Rentaro and Inspector Tadashima arrive, with Rentaro weakening the creature using black Varanium bullets. Enju defeats it. Rentaro reports to his superior, Kisara Tendo, and receives a scolding for prioritizing food over payment for assisting the Tokyo Police. The infection source remains elusive. Rentaro visits his teacher, Sumire Muroto, who suggests the virus uses camouflage. After dropping Enju at school, Rentaro reflects on humanity's war against the virus and the Cursed Children as their last hope for survival.
