Ep. 5: Mato enters Black Rock Shooter's mind to save Yomi from Dead Master's influence.
While Black Rock Shooter battles Dead Master's army, Yomi acts erratically at school, alarming Mato and Kagari. Yuu grows wary of Saya, and Mato witnesses the conflict in her dreams. Upon visiting Saya, Mato is attacked and later realizes Yomi's distress stems from her own actions. Mato discovers the basketball club has no memory of Yuu and that her own recollections are false. Yuu reveals the dream world is real, where figures embody real-world sorrow; killing them erases associated memories. She explains that defeating Dead Master would make Yomi forget her grief. Yuu induces a deep sleep, transferring Mato's consciousness into Black Rock Shooter to offer a non-violent solution. However, Mato arrives to find Dead Master already slain, causing Black Rock Shooter's blue eye to turn purple.
