Black★Rock Shooter (TV)

A girl with black hair, dark clothing, and a glowing blue eye wields a large cannon and engages in intense combat. In a separate reality, a middle-school student named Mato Kuroi is interested in her classmate Yomi Takanashi, whose family name is uncommon. Mato tries to connect with Yomi, who remains reserved. Mato's friend Yu Koutari teases her but also encourages her. At school, Mato interacts with various individuals, including the quirky counselor Saya Irino and the passionate club captain Arata Kohata. Mato eventually meets Yomi at her home after discovering Yomi has her favorite book. They begin to bond before Yomi's wheelchair-bound friend, Kagari Izuriha, joins them. The narrative links Mato and the girl with the cannon through their shared struggles.
