Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryuu Ishida, Orihime Inoue, Yasutora "Chad" Sado, and Yoruichi Shihouin cross into the Soul Society via a gate. They land in the Rukon District, home to ordinary spirits. Ichigo attempts to enter the Seireitei, the residence of Soul Reapers, but is stopped by the gatekeeper Jidanbou. Utilizing skills from Urahara's training, Ichigo swiftly defeats the opponent. Upon Jidanbou's defeat, the gate opens, revealing Squad Three captain Gin Ichimaru to the group. This segment marks the first part of the Soul Society: The Sneak Entry arc, specifically episode one of twenty-one in the series.
