Ichigo wakes at the Urahara Shop, confused about his escape from the Kouryuu and Koutotsu. Meanwhile, Mayuri drugs Inaba with his zanpakutou, but Isaba summons Isane's reigai to attack. Rukia explains Project Spearhead to the group, revealing the use of modified souls. Inaba consumes soul candy from the reigai, causing his body to reject him while the reigai absorbs the drug's effects. Inaba then reveals he created the modified souls and resurrects the defeated reigai, unleashing their true power. Nozomi confesses that she was the first modified soul created in this project.
