Yamamoto informs Renji that most captains are missing, leaving only Ichigo, Rukia, Renji, Ikkaku, and Yumichika ready for battle. He suspects hollows have gathered due to spiritual disturbances. Nozomi stays at Ichigo's house, while Kon remains depressed over her previous admission. Ichigo and Rukia fight numerous hollows, and their friends support Kon and Nozomi. One night, Nozomi leaves the house and is attacked by a hollow. Kon arrives to defend her but fails. The hollow easily defeats them both. Frustrated, Nozomi releases a surge of spiritual pressure, regaining her Soul Reaper abilities and defeating the enemy. This event occurs during the Gotei 13 Invading Army arc.
