A massive Funato fortress nears Team Kagura's vessel, prompting Kagura to dispatch Boruto, Kawaki, and Buntan for reconnaissance. Simultaneously, Team Denki targets a harbor to commandeer a large ship, while Sarada and Mitsuki focus on freeing captive miners and researchers. Boruto, Kawaki, and Buntan board the mobile fortress, where commander Tenma learns that Isari has rescued their father. On the island, a miner informs Tenma's forces that Leaf researchers are hidden among the captives. Sarada and Mitsuki successfully liberate the hostages from the mines. Denki hotwires the target ship, enabling their escape. On the fortress deck, Buntan treats Kawaki's motion sickness and discovers a giant Scientific Ninja Tool cannon.
