On the Ashford Academy front lawn, Rivalz and Suzaku repair a motorbike while discussing Lelouch’s childhood. Suzaku reveals that Lelouch visited during summer breaks, though they did not spend much time together. Rivalz appreciates meeting someone who knew Lelouch before his secretive nature took hold. Suzaku demonstrates his mechanical knowledge by correcting the wrench size and sharing memories of a deceased woman who helped him maintain the bike. He mentions living in cramped university military quarters, but declines Rivalz’s offer to become roommates due to his duties. Across the street, Cecile urges Lloyd to complete paperwork for their move into the university space. Lloyd defers to her, joking that her efficiency stems from love for research. Cecile grants him authority over engineering affairs and insists on a casual atmosphere. When Suzaku arrives and reports formally, she corrects him, urging him to simply say he is there. Suzaku complies, and the pair warmly welcomes him home.
