Following a home run by the captain off Sanada, Seido maintains a two-run advantage. In the bottom of the eighth, pitcher Kawakami struggles and insists on facing Tanba in the next game. When Raichi is walked and steals second base, he creates a difficult situation. Kawakami secures two outs, but Raichi scores, narrowing the gap to 6-5 and leaving Yakushi with runners on first and third. Manager Kataoka then calls for a pitching change, bringing in Tanba for his first appearance in this ace versus ace showdown with two outs. This segment adapts chapters 110 through 112 of the series.
