Goku, a strong orphan living alone in the mountains, meets Bulma, a teenager seeking seven mystical balls. Their paths cross when Bulma crashes her vehicle into him. These Dragon Balls summon the wish-granting dragon god, Shenron. Goku possesses the Four-Star Ball, a gift from his late grandfather. Since Bulma already has two balls, she invites Goku to join her adventure to borrow his strength and the item. They travel on a motorcycle, but Bulma is kidnapped by a giant flying dinosaur during a brief stop. Goku defeats the creature using his Power Pole and rescues her, continuing their journey together.
