Super Saiyan Gohan refuses to fight, warning Cell that releasing his hidden strength will cause him to lose control and kill the villain. This threat intrigues Cell, who decides to deliberately enrage Gohan by inflicting severe pain to force his true power out. As Gohan endures the punishment, Android #16 intervenes. Since he emits no detectable ki, #16 grabs Cell from behind and declares his intention to trigger his self-destruct bomb.
