Ep. 2: Shinra and Arthur face training and a deceptive Infernal attack in Iriya District.
Shinra learns he and new recruit Arthur Boyle will represent Special Fire Force Company 8 in the Rookie Fire Soldier Games. Lieutenant Hinawa tasks Maki with testing their skills, where she easily defeats them due to their overconfidence as third-generation pyrokinetics. An emergency call reports an Infernal in a detached house in the Iriya District. Upon arrival, Arthur and Shinra disobey the Captain’s orders by drawing weapons in public, a move criticized for potentially distressing the next of kin. Inside, Arthur quickly eliminates the Infernal, but it proves to be a trap. A mysterious figure ignites the house, causing it to collapse. The Captain comforts Mikako, a young girl whose parents have become Infernals, helping Arthur and Shinra understand the true responsibilities of serving in the Special Fire Force.
