Ep. 4: Company 8 Investigates Infernal Ashes and Confronts the Self-Aware Miyamoto

Analysis of Joker’s remains reveals Infernal Ashes derived from dead Infernals. Maki assigns Shinra and Arthur to rescue a dog, discovering it is their mascot Mamoru, harassed by youths due to public distrust following firefighter Setsuo Miyamoto’s deadly spree. After Miyamoto is acquitted, he ignites into an Infernal and attacks. Shinra and Arthur arrive first, realizing the Infernal is self-aware and calculating rather than mindless. As Shinra pursues the escaping target, Princess Hibana and Company 5 observe to capture him for their own ends. Company 8 arrives, causing a jurisdictional standoff. Hibana offers research data in exchange for custody, and Captain Obi reluctantly permits her to take Miyamoto, despite his deep mistrust of their intentions.
