Ep. 39: Gray Confronts Zeref and Uses Lost Iced Shell to Save Natsu

Fairy Tail members fight through Alvarez forces toward the guildhall. Jacob and Ajeel fall, while Brandish departs with a shrunken Dimaria after friendly terms with Lucy. Gildarts assaults August to protect Magnolia, but his magic fails until Cana arrives to help. Meanwhile, Gray reaches the guildhall to face Zeref, who reveals his true goal for Fairy Heart is not killing Acnologia. Gray reaffirms his bond with Natsu and chooses to seal Zeref away using Lost Iced Shell. This technique erases all memory of the caster’s existence, a sacrifice Gray makes to prevent Natsu’s death and ensure his friend survives the conflict.
