Gray nearly freezes Zeref using Lost Iced Shell, but Natsu intervenes to reconcile, vowing to defeat their enemy without sacrificing his life. Zeref argues that Natsu cannot kill him without Fire Dragon King Mode, pausing their duel when they sense Acnologia's arrival. The dragon discovers Irene's body, cruelly mutilates it before Erza and Wendy, and identifies her as his creator. Elsewhere, Cana uses Fairy Glitter on August, who remains unaffected. August provokes Gildarts by threatening Cana, intrigued by their familial bond.
