Yahiko, an innocent fox yokai, discovers a small yokai in the mountains and brings her home, naming her Kinako. As Kinako grows fond of him, Yahiko dotes on her, but she becomes too weak to survive in the mundane world and is destined to disappear. Desperate to save her, Yahiko seeks help from Abeno and Ashiya to perform an exorcism. However, conflict arises because Kinako refuses to leave without Yahiko, while he cannot return to the Underworld. This impasse forces the group to consider a compromise suggested by Ashiya to resolve their dilemma.
