Ep. 15: The Nautilus Endures Mine Attacks and Fleet Ambush While Jean Mourns Fait

Days later, the Nautilus encounters deadly mines clogging its intakes and near-miss torpedoes. A Garfish ramming the hull is destroyed as the submarine drifts away. Surrounded by Captain Melville’s American fleet, which received an anonymous tip from Gargoyle blaming the sub for sinking ships, the Nautilus suffers critical damage and sinks to the ocean floor. Forced to remain submerged until the vengeful fleet departs, the crew faces dire conditions. Earlier, Ensign Fait offered Jean handmade flowers for Nadia, who rejected them due to memories of Gargoyle’s garden. Following the attack, Fait becomes trapped in a gas-leaking engine room. Nemo orders the area sealed to prevent further damage, leaving Jean to painfully listen to his friend die.
