Marie and Nadia contract a tropical fever that will kill them in two days without treatment. Nemo alters the Nautilus's course to reach Reef 64, despite Electra's anger. He, Jean, Sanson, Hanson, and King travel through the underwater region to locate the necessary herb. They discover the plant in a cave on a cliff face. During their return, a monstrous eel named Dinicthys attacks them. Jean and King distract the creature by throwing their diving lights into a void. Nemo assists them in driving the beast away, allowing the group to retrieve the cure and save the girls from death.
