Ludwin brings Kazuya and Liscia to an abandoned dungeon to meet his childhood friend, Genia Maxwell. The Maxwell family converted the monster-free site into a research laboratory. Genia, an Over-Scientist, studies non-magical powers like broadcast gemstones, which are dungeon hearts. She dreams of examining a living gemstone and has discovered how to store magic in Curse Ore. Kazuya recognizes this as a rechargeable magical battery that could spark an industrial revolution or war. To secure Genia for Elfrieden, Kazuya and Liscia propose she marry Ludwin. Both agree to the engagement. Ludwin then reveals he sought their help because Genia caused a scandal by stealing dragon bones.
