Ep. 17: Barry rescues Ross from custody while Edward confronts Mustang after a staged explosion.

Ross faces military police custody and interrogation by Douglas following accusations regarding Hughes' assassination. Barry the Chopper, motivated by a newspaper article, attacks the jail to free Ross. He also releases Ling, who agrees to assist both Barry and Ross. Barry urges Ross to flee Central immediately to avoid execution. Edward and Alphonse encounter the group, allowing Barry to delay the brothers so Ross can escape. Ross then meets Mustang, who appears to kill her in a large explosion. Edward confronts Mustang upon seeing the charred remains, prompting Mustang to remind him of his military duty. Armstrong arrives and insists Edward return to Resembool to repair his automail arm, forcibly taking the confused Edward away.
