Winry chooses to heal Scar instead of judging him, honoring her parents' values. Miles reveals he joined the military to improve Ishvalan perceptions and offers to hide the group at the fort. Alphonse insists on sparing two chimeras, and Winry creates a kidnapping ruse to evade Kimblee as a blizzard begins. The group travels through mine tunnels, but Miles learns Olivier has left the fort to state alchemists. Alphonse ventures into the storm to warn them, briefly seeing his empty body and questioning if it seeks its soul. Meanwhile, Father formulates plans involving Alphonse, Edward, Hohenheim, Izumi, and another candidate.
