Sarah departs to live with her grandfather, while Lynn remains unaware of her father's passing. Edward is discharged from the hospital and meets Lynn at the entrance, where she announces her return to Marble Mansion. Arthur accompanies her, and they encounter Mary, who has just arrived from the airport. Arthur fears Mary will bully Lynn again. Mary visits her grandfather at the bank, where he reveals plans to purchase the marble home for her and expresses hatred for George due to the baroness and Thomas's disdain for London. Mary requests enrollment at St. Paul Academy and moves into Vivian's residence because her father works at the bank. The following day, Mary and Vivian admire Elizabeth when Lynn arrives. Vivian questions Mary's connection to Lynn, who identifies herself as the daughter of a poor viscount. Vivian concludes they are not friends and decides to befriend Mary.
