Finn attends Lindsey's birthday at the Sun Fields orphanage, where she reveals the facility will close in the Spring. He offers money from his new job to save it, but Lindsey refuses due to suspicion about his sudden wealth. Bobby Ball arrives seeking revenge, setting the building ablaze while Finn protects the children. Bobby uses two X-Playing cards to activate X-Hand, transforming into a monster with regenerative marble limbs that shrug off Finn's bullets. He taunts Finn about his family's death in a fire before a mysterious missile destroys him. Finn then recognizes that his recurring nightmares of a black knight in a burning house are repressed memories, leading him to question Lindsey's involvement in the deception.
