After overcoming several obstacles, Bocchi successfully establishes a conversation with Kako, only to discover that Kako maintains a strict policy against making friends. The following day, while assisting Kako with classroom cleaning duties, Kako reveals that her refusal to socialize stems from a desire to prove she is strong enough to live independently. Concurrently, Sotoka struggles with the decision of whether to ask Bocchi to be her friend while continuing as her apprentice. Ultimately, Sotoka chooses to prioritize her apprentice training as a way to demonstrate her gratitude and appreciation toward Bocchi.
