Ep. 12: Maki and Toma lose to Itsuse brothers while Toma learns of his mother's divorce and Maki plans to kill his father

Maki and Toma lose the first two games against the Itsuse brothers, forcing a decisive fifth match after switching positions. Although the brothers regain composure to win, the pair earn spectator support for their efforts against the defending champions. Toma attempts to call Ryoma but speaks to his mother, who announces her divorce and that she will live with Ryoma while Toma stays with his father. She expresses relief at leaving him, stating she hates him. Meanwhile, Maki returns home to find a broken glass and Shou, his mother's friend. Realizing his father visited for money, Maki decides he must kill his father to escape the theft and abuse. He buys a knife and heads to his father's apartment.
