Since observers are forbidden, Yuta suggests infiltrating the crowd of girls outside the courts. Yuta and Maki dress as girls, and Yuta confides in Maki that they identify as nonbinary. Maki advises Yuta not to feel pressured to label themselves, sharing a story about her mother’s FTM friend, Shou. Yuta mentions their older sisters call them Yu, so Maki adopts that name. On the way, they encounter Takuto Murakami, who quit soft tennis for basketball and attempts to hit on Maki and Yu. At Hatanouka, Kanako distracts the spectators, allowing Maki and Yu to videotape the team. Reviewing the footage, the club realizes they must change their attitude to compete. The matches proceed with positive results for the boys. Meanwhile, Tsubasa returns home and is severely reprimanded by his father for quitting soccer for tennis. His father slaps him, causing Tsubasa to fall down the stairs and break his wrist. He flees to Shingo’s house, where Shingo’s father takes him to the hospital. Doctors inform them that Tsubasa cannot play tennis for two months.
