Urasue abducts Kagome to facilitate the resurrection of Kikyo. When Inuyasha inadvertently speaks Kikyo’s name, her soul leaves Kagome and inhabits her body. The revived Kikyo is disoriented yet furious, intending to kill Inuyasha for betraying her five decades prior. As Inuyasha suffers, Kagome retrieves her soul, causing Kikyo to succumb to hatred. Inuyasha attempts to rescue Kikyo from a cliff edge but fails. He subsequently remembers the events of the betrayal that occurred fifty years ago, leaving Kikyo in despair.
