Sango discovers her brother Kohaku alive following a demon assault targeting his Shikon Jewel shard, though he has lost his memory. Inuyasha hesitates to allow Kohaku to join the group, a choice validated when Kagura arrives with a large demon force. During the ensuing conflict, Inuyasha and Miroku engage Kagura to create an opening. This distraction enables Kagome and Kohaku to flee into the surrounding forest, escaping the immediate threat posed by Kagura and her minions while Inuyasha and Miroku hold off the attackers.
