Sango reunites with Kuranosuke Takeda, lord of the Takeda clan, whom she first met six years ago. He requests that she slay a bear demon haunting his palace and accept his marriage proposal. Although Sango hesitates to refuse, Miroku feels envious yet advises her to accept the chance for a normal life. During the battle, Sango is caught off guard by the demon. Miroku ultimately defeats the creature through a ritual of exorcism. Sango declines the marriage offer, and Kuranosuke allows her to leave with her companions.
