The battle abruptly stops when Naraku remotely commands Kohaku to kill his hostage, Rin. Simultaneously, Sesshomaru pursues Kohaku to save Rin from death, while Inuyasha chases Sesshomaru to protect Kohaku from being killed. The siblings prioritize saving their respective friends over continuing their fight against the enemy, halting the confrontation as they race to prevent the murder of Rin and Kohaku by their respective adversaries.
