Ep. 26: Kagome Wishes to Return to the Past and Reunites with Inuyasha
Inuyasha reaches Kagome, who recalls her grandfather’s words about the Shikon Jewel’s destruction. After a kiss, she makes the correct wish, banishing the jewel forever. In the present, eighteen-year-old Kagome, nearing high school graduation, realizes her feelings blocked the Bone Eater’s Well. Wishing to see Inuyasha again, she reactivates the well, bids her mother farewell, and enters. Inuyasha catches her scent and takes her hand. Meanwhile, Kagome’s family and friends continue their lives: her brother Sota Higurashi claims she married after high school, her friends attend college, and Hojo dates an underclasswoman. Shippo trains as a fox demon; Sango and Miroku raise three children in Kaede’s village; Kohaku trains as a demon slayer; Myoga lives with Totosai; Koga marries Ayame; and Rin stays with Kaede, visited by Sesshoumaru and Jaken. Inuyasha intended this as practice for her return to a human village. Kagome happily adapts to her new life as his wife in the feudal era.
