Rising theater actress Ayaka Kurenai plots against colleague Kaoruko Kurushima after being outshone. Ayaka hires thugs to force Kaoruko to drink a tonic that destroys her voice. Midori Kurenai, Ayaka's adoptive mother and company owner, cancels the performance upon discovering Ayaka's actions. Enraged, Ayaka attempts to send Midori to Hell using a straw doll. However, the ritual fails because the doll becomes ordinary. This occurs because Kaoruko had previously requested that Ayaka be sent to Hell for her crimes. The counter-curse neutralizes Ayaka's spell, leaving her plan ineffective and highlighting the immediate karmic consequences of her malicious actions against her peers and family.
